The Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) oversees our training programs. They are also responsible for determining licensure and certification requirements, interpreting the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, evaluating and approving nursing
education and nursing assistant training programs, issuing licenses and renewals, investigating complaints and taking disciplinary action against licensees who violate the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, maintaining the nursing assistant registry,
administering competency evaluations, imposing disciplinary sanctions for nursing assistants and nurses, and providing testimony to the legislature and other organizations as needed.

Students need to establish a presence (portal) on the OSBN website to submit fees and applications for initial testing, retesting, or renewal. On the portal, they can get information about their license status. No physical license will be issued upon passing the competency exams and FBI fingerprint criminal background check. Once they pass all the requirements for certification, they can look up their license information including expiration and issue dates and certification number, obtain documentation for transferring their license from another state, change their address or employment information, and send and receive messages with OSBN.
